The Rafale has lost again

Monday, December 5th, 2011
The Swiss army, who had a bit of spare cash to buy some brand new jet fighters, decided it would go with Saab’s Gripen. This jet fighter has proved to be one of the best exports of Sweden’s military industry. Sweden has many of them, but also do the UK, the Czech Republic, Thailand, South Africa, and now Switzerland. Added to the aircrafts are many layers of partnerships and technological transfer and support. So far so good, but the French who were pushing the Rafale on the deal, are now anRead More....

Ace combat press clippings: flying a jet fighter

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011
We were very fortunate a few weeks ago to welcome five reporters from Britain. They had been invited by Namco to feel the pulse of what a fighter pilot feels like when flying a jet fighter. This was a great day, sunny, and everyone was in a very good mood. The reporters got to play Ace Combat Assault Horizon, and then get ready for the experience of a lifetime, fly in a real jet fighter. Below are two articles that have been published, one in The Independent and the other in the Daily Star. We aRead More....

Flying the Jet Provost

Fly the BAC Jet Provost in the UK. This trainer plane was in use by the Royal Air Force from the 50s to 1993 and still used by private companies to train pilots at flying fighter jets. Going to Mach 0.7, the Jet Provost has been a successful jet trainer and has served more than 10 air forces around the world. Its twin seating makes it a convivial plane. It is also easy to fly and agile, and very impressiveRead More....

The F-22 Raptor is back in the air

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011
As jet fighters are concerned, the F-22 Raptor is simply the best. So we were a bit surprised to hear a few months ago that this incredible jet fighter was grounded because of oxygen problems. The system actually did not work on several occasions causing hypoxia for some pilots who nearly crashed due to the lack of oxygen in the cockpit. This problem was so serious that the F-22 Raptor was grounded for 4 months, which is a very unusual move. But it reflects the positive view of the US officials Read More....

Getting ready for air combat

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011
As we mentioned earlier, we are now preparing for a great new flying experience: dogfighting. And to finalise our operations, this summer we went to see some friends in California to see how they were doing it. And we have been reassured as we have had some tremendous fun flying and fighting, just like in air combat. In California, two outfits are doing dog fighting. One with L39 Albatros jet fighters – Mach One. The experience is great, and you have a pilot assisting and looking out for all tRead More....

We are getting a new jet fighter

Monday, May 23rd, 2011
We are very excited to announce that we are currently in the process of acquiring a new jet fighter – L39 Albatros – to be stationed in Bordeaux. This is exciting as this will allow us to do more jet fighter rides, but also to have more fun flying in formation. The purchase will take a bit of time, as it usually does when buying a plane – this is not a can of beans – and we expect the delivery of the plane towards September. Then the jet fighter will go under testing to ensure full secuRead More....

L39 Albatros: a short history

Friday, April 22nd, 2011
The Aero L-39 Albatros is a high-performance jet trainer aircraft developed in Czechoslovakia to meet requirements for a "C-39" (C for cvičný – trainer) during the 1960s to replace the L-29 Delfín. It was the first of the second-generation jet trainers, and the first turbofan-powered trainer produced, and was later updated as the L-59 Super Albatros and as the L-139 (prototype L-39 with engine Garrett TFE731). The design is still produced in an evolved state as the L-159 ALCA, while more thRead More....
